Kiss Ass, Godhead!

by The Membranes

/
  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

30th Anniversary Edition, of the 1989 Glass LP, recorded by Steve Albini in Chicago and Leeds.

It's a screeching and wailing chunk of strumming and shouting. His (Steve Albini) first ‘production’ outside of Big Black. File Under Punk Fucking Rock.

"The album was a picture postcard of the underbelly of England - always a fascinating place to toy with. The surreal word flow painted a shard and snippet skree of the UK of broken the Victoriana of former powerhouse cities and that not so splendid isolation as the past disappeared into the distance and the future was in an uncomfortable rush to be with us. Punk already felt like a lifetime ago, Post Punk was not really a musical style at the time and the American underground had now swamped the homegrown scene" John Robb 2020

All copies bought from Membranes Bandcamp come with an exclusive 8cm sq vinyl sticker and a 32mm button badge of the sleeve artwork.

Includes unlimited streaming of Kiss Ass, Godhead! via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

  • Cassette + Digital Album

"Kiss Ass Godhead!" was our only album ever to have been released on cassette, and even that was difficult to get hold of having been released via Homestead Records in the USA back in 1988.

Now, we have teamed up with Sour Grapes Records / Mars Tapes in Manchester to make available a limited edition reissue following the success of the 30th Anniversary RSD vinyl edition.

Just 50 copies have been manufactured.

Includes unlimited streaming of Kiss Ass, Godhead! via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

  • T-Shirt/Apparel

Limited print run to accompany the 30th Anniversary Record Store Day 2020 vinyl reissue.

Hand screen printed onto 100% Heavy cotton, Gilden branded T-shirts.

We are particularly pleased with the print detail on this shirt, to obtain the finish 5 separate screens were used, this required using a higher grade cotton, a heavier T-Shirt to hold the ink.

about

The Membranes Manchester, UK

Formed in 1978 in Blackpool, UK, The Membranes are post-punk originators who were part of the same world as bands like Joy Division, Bauhaus & The Fall. They released a remarkable series of records throughout the ‘80s that combined their small town frustration with a love of heavy bass and distortion.

The group reformed in 2010 and have since made two highly idiosyncratic and acclaimed albums.
